UPDATED: Cranston's Preparations for Hurricane “SANDY”

Cranston, R.I- Mayor Allan Fung is updating Cranston residents regarding Hurricane “SANDY”.

“As Hurricane Sandy approaches our area, we have taken additional steps to ensure our residents are well informed and prepared for the storm.” Said Mayor Fung

· PARKING BAN:
from Monday October 29 at NOON to Tuesday, October 30 NOON

· EMERGENCY SHELTER OPEN-
The Cranston Senior Center, 1070 Cranston Street (near K-mart/ Lowe’s Plaza)
will serve as a Storm Shelter for displaced Cranston Residents beginning Monday October 29 at 9:00 am. and will operate 24 HOURS A DAY until further notice.

· SANDBAGS: available at the Department of Public Works, 935 Phenix Avenue from
7:00 am to 3:00 pm (limit 10 sandbags per resident with valid ID)

· EMERGENCY OPERATIONS HOTLINE OPEN 24 HOURS 401-780-3243

· NO TRASH PICKUP on MONDAY October 29th
- stay tuned for information regarding a modified schedule for the rest of the week
