September 15th, 2012
A Health Advisory has been issued for Blackamore Pond in Cranston based on evidence of a bloom of cyanobacteria, also called blue-green algae. This algae may produce a dangerous toxin that can be harmful to people and animals if touched or ingested.
The Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH) advises people to avoid all contact with waters from this pond, including recreational activities such as swimming and boating. People should not eat fish from this body of water and pets should not be allowed to wade or swim in, or drink water from this pond.
This Health Advisory will remain in place until further notice.
