Curbside Recycling
The City of Cranston provides curbside Refuse and Recycling collection to its residents in one, two, three and four-family dwellings. Pickup occurs once per week, and residents should have their refuse, recyclables and yard waste on the curb no later than 6:15 am on collection day, but not before noon the day before.
City of Cranston Recycling Program:
Welcome to the Maximum Recycling Program - a program that lets you recycle up to 40% of your trash! Since the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation does not charge a fee to towns that bring their recyclables to Johnston, Cranston will save money because recyclables won't be dumped (for a fee) at the Central Landfill. So remember, the more you recycle, the more you save!
Maximum Recycling is easy. Here's how: bottles, cans and cartons go in the Blue Bin. Papers, thin cardboard and bagged textiles go in the Green Bin or paper bags. Newspapers are bundled and big items are set out loose. Put your recycling bins out for pickup on the same day as trash collection.
How to Get Replacement Recycling Bins:
A replacement bin, blue or green, can be obtained at the Highway Department, 935 Phenix Ave. 780-3301. One bin of each color will be provided for each family.
Corrugated Cardboard:
Corrugated cardboard will be collected with the recyclables. They must be flattened and tied with string. Bundles must be less than 3 feet long or wide and no more than 6 inches thick. Place next to your recycling bin. Do not include dirty or greasy cardboard or pizza boxes.
